Using social media to create an impression

The best social media marketing platforms for businesses include Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. Before you even begin with social media marketing you need to ask yourself these questions:

  • What social media platforms are they using?
  • Why are they using those social media platforms?
  • How do they prefer to receive information about your type of products and services?

You will then need to decide whether you’ll be posting macro- or micro-content. Macro content is long-form content (think articles and press releases) which can be used on LinkedIn, and micro-content is short-form, snappy content, for instance, images with a short caption on Instagram or tweets on Twitter. Videos generally fall into the former category because of their duration but may also fall into the micro-content category if they are short.
